The UK Advertising Standards Authority has upheld a complaint against two television adverts by Ladbrokes which portrayed gambling in a context of toughness and linked it to excessive risk taking and reckless behaviour. In response, the company has placed full-page ads in the Sun and Racing Post newspapers to find the one person who took offence and complained to the ASA. This is just too funny

The first of the adverts depicted a character with an eye-patch talking about one of his former pupils who took more and more extreme risks in his chosen sport of diving with sharks, including tying raw bacon and sausages to his wet suit and leaping into shark infested waters dressed in a seal costume.

In the second advert a character that was a pilot and sky diving pioneer talked about his student Ted who started experimenting using smaller and smaller parachutes to alleviate his boredom, and finally jumped out of a plane using an empty crisp packet as a parachute.

Both adverts ended with the dialogue; “If only he’d seen ladbrokescasino.com it would have quenched his thrill buds”, followed by the company’s logo and the sound of deep laughter with text stating: “GET £20 FREE”. Source taken from gamingintelligence.com
